Starting in late August of 2019, I began working as the Graphic Design Intern at Anderson Gallery on Drake University’s campus. While my title is that of Graphic Design Intern, I do so much more than that. I work directly with the gallery director and assist with design work as well as assisting with exhibition installation. The second show held by the Anderson Gallery was Visual Disobedience which was curated by an art history professor at Drake. I was involved with the show at every step of the way. Once the invitation and show logo were designed by one of the graphic design professors, I was given the task of designing a poster that could go up around campus.
On the last day of the Visual Disobedience exhibition, the Anderson Gallery hosted an event. It was an artist talk featuring three of the artists that participated in the show. For this poster it needed to relate to the original poster for the show but also have differences. Because it was for a valentine’s show that was another factor that needed to be considered for the poster creation.
